To gain momentum and bring communities together, Save Our Schools held two mass assemblies in the summer it launched, with more than 1,500 attending. The event was part of a programme of activity that has kept the campaign in the media spotlight and helped engage a parent organiser in many schools. Music, speeches, choirs and a mass letter-writing activity meant the group could then send handwritten letters every day to the Education Secretary of State for over a year.
